New User Tips

Tips for new users

1. Watch the walkthrough video AND read the skill rules

Some of the rules are not mentioned in the video, so be sure to read the written rules also. If you have questions about certain rules, send us an email to support@skillsleague.ninja. Some skills end when you break the rules, others just don’t count those reps, so look closely!

2. Read the video tips

Most skills will show video tips to help you take the best video for that skill. If I am not able to see whether you successfully completed a skill because the camera pans away from the action, I will assume that it is a failed attempt. The best method is to set up your camera in a stationary location that will capture all of the action.

3. If you have a slow connection, the video upload will take some time

One minute of video is surprisingly big! If you have a slow mobile connection, try connecting to wifi before uploading. If you still run into issues, most phones have a setting to change the resolution. Try a lower resolution and upload again.

4: Watch other competitors to pick up tips

All of the attempts from the previous week are available to view on Skill TV. Sometimes you can pick up a new technique. But, be aware that not all techniques are legal. Make sure to check if that attempt was “Video Reviewed” before relying on it.

5: Check your home page for video reviews

Every few days, I will review attempts and adjust the reps, if needed. You can view your own reviews on your Home Page

6: All new attempts posted to Twitter

If you really want some up-to-the-minute results, all attempts are automatically posted to our twitter account @ninjaskillsleag

7: There are weekly and monthly prizes

To make sure that not everyone waits until the end of the month to attempt the skills, weekly prizes are given out Mondays based on performance from the previous week. So, make sure you get your best attempt in by Sunday night!

8: Have Fun!

This is a competitive league, but it is meant to be fun. Some of the skills will be challenging, so try your best but don’t get discouraged if you don’t reach the top of the leaderboard. Try to do a little better each week.
